Memories and dreams are, by nature, diffuse.
In his 2022 series Angan-Angan Harsa, Farid Renais Ghimas uses photography as a way to hold on to the fleeting moments of the past. He embarks on a visual exploration of his hometown, Benkulu, located on the southwest coast of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia.
On the cover, a child stands facing the sun, eyes closed, inviting us to step into the book as one would enter a gallery of memories. Family portraits, friends, and everyday joys overlap, bathed in an orange-tinted light through which Farid Renais Ghimas evokes the visual memory of his childhood and of Indonesia.
