Une image, des images #25 | Henri Matisse (1944) with Claudine Grammont

In this episode, Claudine Grammont reveals the secrets behind the photograph of Henri Matisse taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson in 1944. During this period, the photographer worked on a report on Henri Matisse in his villa “Le Rêve” in Vence. The photographs show Matisse at work, a rather rare scene, and reveal the interior of the artist’s studio, teeming with works of art.

Each episode of Une image, des images offers a specialist the opportunity to retrace the history of a single image: a way of discovering, through their perspective, the archives preserved by the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson and the photographic work of its two founders.

This program is produced with the generous support of the Franck family.
