C’est par son séjour et son activité en Chine en 1948-1949 que HCB accède à la célébrité comme photoreporter. De quelles antériorités et de quels modèles est-il nourri dans ce domaine ? Quelles conceptions personnelles apporte-t’il à ce métier dont il deviendra l’illustre référence internationale des années 1960 ?

Biographie :
Michel Frizot est un historien de la photographie, directeur de recherche émérite au CNRS – EHESS et commissaire d’expositions.
Il a dirigé la Nouvelle Histoire de la photographie (1994 ; édition anglaise 1998) et il est l’auteur de nombreux articles, essais, catalogues et livres, dont Photo Trouvée (2006), Henri Cartier-Bresson, Scrapbook (2006), VU, le magazine photographique (2009), André Kertész rétrospective (2010), Toute photographie fait énigme (2014), Germaine Krull (2015) et L’homme photographique (2018).
