Under the patronage of Mrs Rima Abdul Malak, minister of Culture, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson held its first gala dinner at the Pavillon Cambon Capucines on Monday 6 November 2023 to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
In 20 years, through a demanding programme of nearly 70 exhibitions, some sixty publications and a considerable number of events, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson has become a key player in the field of international photographic institutions.
This gala evening was an opportunity to contribute to the Foundation’s activities, but also to bring all together the various players in the world of photography on the occasion of the opening of the international Paris Photo fair.
The ceremony was punctuated by the presentation of the HCB Award 2023, an auction and a reading-performance.
The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson would like to express its warmest gratitude to the Minister of Culture, Ms Rima Abdul Malak, for her presence, to François de Ricqlès for conducting the auction, to Océane Arnaud for her commitment to the success of the evening, to Carolyn Drake and Karim Kal, respectively winners of the HCB Award 2021 and 2023, for their involvement, Joseph Schiano di Lombo for his artistic proposal, Eve George for designing the HCB Award 2023 trophy, as well as the evening’s partners and all the guests who honoured us with their presence.
The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, recognized as being of public utility, is committed to sharing the work of its two founders, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martine Franck, through the promotion of exhibitions in France and abroad. Over the past twenty years, under the guidance of Agnès Sire – who played an active role in the creation of the Fondation alongside Martine Franck and directed it until 2018 – followed by François Hébel, The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson has established itself internationally as a leading photographic institution.
